Meeting Minutes for March 17, 2025

 

CALL CQ  -.-.  --.-  THAT’s WHAT WE DO!

 

The March meeting of the East Tennessee DX Association (ETDXA) was held on 3/17/25    Our President Tim Berarducci, AJ4HW, called the meeting to order at 1655 hours.

 

Attendance:

Members in-person: 13  Members on Zoom: 2

Guests in person:   Guests on Zoom: 1

Total attendance:  16

 

Health and Welfare:  A few words of tribute were shared for our dear friend and colleague Willard Sitton, W4HZD who passed recently.  He will certainly be missed in many ways.                                                                              

 

Old Business: We continue to ask for volunteers for vacant positions; namely V.P., Secretary or Treasurer. In last month’s meeting, members approved Tony, KU4NY, as an Honorary member in recognition of his creation and maintenance of our website, etdxa.net.

  

Treasurer’s Report: There are enough funds to cover future contributions to Dxpeditions.

 

New Business: The subject of becoming a 501C3 club for tax purposes was discussed. It was decided that our small club would not benefit in the long run, primarily due to administrative costs and requirements.  A vote was taken and the majority voted against further action.

  

DX Report: Several members commented on the current excellent DX conditions.  The 10 meter band is open and very active.

 

Hamfest: Nothing discussed.

 

Program:  The program title for this month was “The FT8 Revolution in DXing – Except When CW Strikes Back".  It was presented by our own Bob Farkalay, K9RHY.  As always, his presentation was very professional and informative. 

 

Door Prize: A drawing was held for a special door prize: a Baofeng AR-5RM hand-held, 2 band/multi band radio. The lucky winner was Helga Wagner, WD9GYG.

 

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 1845 hours.
